Welcome to the blogger of an absolute beginner...

Well, as a woman of a certain age setting up a business I have heard so much about the power of Social Marketing. I have even been to a seminar this week which made sense, well all except the acronyms. So I am going to give it a go.

I am a great people person and a great coach and if this is the way to tell you all about that...then I am up for moving out of my comfort zone just like a good coach should be. (The words great and technology will never appear in the same sentence for me though.)

We are of course assuming that I ever find this blog again.

Time out

Time out from the every day is so important, is it not? I have had a week of:
  • Eating
  • Sleeping
  • Reading
  • Walking
  • Watching crap films
  • Enjoying the occasional glass of wine/beer
Though I am still doing bits for WW and enjoying retaining that connection, it has been great to be away from BRC and makes me realise that it is for me no more than a money making machine.

So, the solution has to be to build up WW to be my money making machine.

I remember having this conversation some time ago with my good friend Dr Helen Ford and a few of her clients when we were all on a self development course she was leading. Having faith in yourself to run a successful business is a hard thing to realise but it is do-able and achievable, maybe I need some coaching to bring it on for myself?

I have just finished reading Dawn French's autobiography and got that familiar feeling about how rewarding it must be to be paid for doing the stuff that you love. The universe is definitely trying to tell me something, time to listen me thinks...Launa.x

Making progress at BNI

It has been a very busy few weeks as I re-divert my attention back to WalkerWellbeing and how I can increase the impact the business can have.

I have been a member of BNI for a few weeks now and feel like I am settling in very well. Meetings are very lively which is useful as they start at 6.45am and you have to be more than just slightly awake! I even won the gong for the best 60 seconds this week, but I must admit that I went for the heart strings talking about my fab finish at the Great North Run last Sunday. You see, anyone can achieve their goals if they have a fab coach!

But it has not all been about the sharing I am doing at BNI. By committing to the group, I have started looking at other ways I can promote my business more too like by updating my website and my literature (take a wee look). I have made contact with a couple of lovely local ladies who are putting together a new holistic centre for Bromsgrove and they are happy for me to rent a room there for my coaching. That is a wonderful find, especially as they are keen to promote what I do.

Though juggling my job and my business is an art in itself I am loving the challenge and hope the energy is infectious. Life is too short for it not to be!

Have a fab weekend,

Launa

Incoming...

A friend of mine on Facebook commented the other day that she took 3 hours to put together her first blog. I respondeded that I always had a glass of wine with mine which makes it go quicker, which is not exactly true but it did make me reflect on the way I approach this blog. As with everything in life, I write my blog like a steam train coming through a tunnel. I am an activist through and through so time to reflect and consider just does not come into it. Because of this, you, dear reader, get an accutate picture of what I am trying to say but I know that sometime that train is probably running away with itself.

Years ago, I might have tried to slow myself down, considered, remarked and then got bored and walked off. But now that I know myself, I know that this is how I function and I am very willing to respect those who are different to me and I apologise to those who I flatten on the way(!!) Self understanding has become central to everything I do. I know who I am and don't beat myself up for the stuff I can't do (like work this stupid smart phone). What I do do is share this with everyone which is the job that I do. How fab is that? So, do you want to know what personaility type you are?

The latest

So, as anticipated, it has been a very busy couple of weeks. Good job I am good at time managing, supporting the job and developing WW. (Not fogetting training for the Great North Run n 2 weeks!)

Thanks to my two good friends Anne and Joy we have been looking at the markering material including the website to smarten it up and include the corporate coaching which, I suppose, I should have seen a market for before. Sometimes it is only when you are back in that environment and see the poor management that goes on that you are reminded of what a difference some coaching and mentoring/training makes. No names involved, but if only I could arrange for some coaching for a few of my present colleagues.

Anyhow, developing a successful business needs to stop when Jonnie has food on the table so I had better go.

Speak soon...x
