I have had a manic few weeks since coming back from holiday. Even more noticeable by the fact that I was mega chilled as I stepped off the plane, I have really had to step up a gear.
And I must admit that I owe it to two very special women (you know who you are so I am not going to spell it out) because they believed in me. Without pressure they lured me into joining BNI (Business Network International) cause they knew I was good at what I do and I just needed some support with the marketing and business development side of things. BNI has, without a doubt, been a great move for WalkerWellbeing and having been on the receiving side of a load of negative feedback about it, I can only determine that my contacts did not shop around for a group of people that suited them and their business or they just 'did not get it'.
So BNI works on the principle that you are marketing everyone's business as you go out and about, not just your own. I am getting my head round what everyone does and recommending them to friends, family and contacts and as there is a code of ethics around quality of service, I am happy to do so. Then of course, in return, my colleagues can recommend me for people who need coaching or training.
I am slowly beginning to get this business thing and it is not just about having a great product is it. I know I have that. I need some focus and direction to and it is getting there too. There is such a need for what I do in the workplace, I am excited about going there and supporting people in their professional development too.
No more pink and fluffy, get of your bum and make a difference. Sisters ARE doing for themselves!
Welcome to the blogger of an absolute beginner...
Well, as a woman of a certain age setting up a business I have heard so much about the power of Social Marketing. I have even been to a seminar this week which made sense, well all except the acronyms. So I am going to give it a go.
I am a great people person and a great coach and if this is the way to tell you all about that...then I am up for moving out of my comfort zone just like a good coach should be. (The words great and technology will never appear in the same sentence for me though.)
We are of course assuming that I ever find this blog again.
